Since 2023, Save Face has been campaigning for a new law that mandates only GMC-registered plastic surgeons are permitted to perform high-risk surgical procedures, including liquid BBLs, liposuction, and surgical facelifts. Shockingly, these dangerous procedures are currently being carried out by unqualified individuals in alarmingly unsafe environments. Last December we wrote to the government to warn that unless this law was implelemeted as a matter of urgency, it would only be a matter of time until someone died. In September, our worst fears were tragically confirmed when 33-year-old mother of five, Alice Webb, lost her life following a liquid BBL procedure.
In the wake of this heartbreaking loss, we have launched a petition calling for the enactment of this critical law in Alice’s memory. To further amplify our message, we are collaborating closely with ITV News to expose the grave dangers associated with these procedures and to unveil the shocking practices that are still legally permitted. This powerful video demonstrates the inadequate training being provided to laypeople seeking to perform these life-threatening procedures, revealing the devastating consequences faced by those who fall victim to these unscrupulous practitioners.
The time for action is now. We must honour Alice’s memory by ensuring that no other family experiences the tragedy of losing a loved one. Join us in this urgent fight for patient safety and the implementation of this vital legislation. Together, we can make a transformative difference. Sign and share our petition here.
